Choose The Right Vancouver Hotel

Author: Kyle Ware

There’s a few steps in finding the perfect hotel for you:
1. Decide on the right area in which you’d like to stay. Check a map to see which municipality you’ll be staying in. If you are visiting for pleasure then I suggest staying in Vancouver, or downtown Vancouver as many tourist attractions are located in downtown Vancouver and there is ample public transit available to take you to the surrounding areas.
Vancouver has a few municipilaties, these include North Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Richmond, Surrey, and Port Coquitlam. Generally, the close a hotel is located to downtown Vancouver the more expensive the accomodation. You may wish to consult a map such as http://www.virtualvancouver.com/map_bc.html
2. After you’ve decided on the area then check for hotels available in the area. You can find accomodation ranging from $50/night for a hostel to $500+ per night for a 4-star hotel. It’s a good idea to consult travel guide sites which have customer reviews. People who’ve stayed at a hotel usually have great information.
If you’re staying in the downtown area then the west side is more expensive than the east side. Recently, due to the 2010 Olympics, the government has provided funding to hotels to upgrade their premises. Many downtown eastside hotels provide affordable accomodation and have been upgraded.
If you’re staying in a 4-star hotel then I would suggest finding one which offers a harbour view, such as the Pan Pacific or Westin Bayshore. These two hotels provide exquisite views of Stanley Park and the Harbour as well as featuring luxurious rooms with all the comforts.
If you’re staying on the eastside of downtown Vancouver then you may wish to try the Ramada or one of the hotels located along Pender or Hastings Street.
3. Once you’ve decided on a hotel then either call up the hotel and make a reservation or use an online booking agent to reserve your room. Many hotels now offer online booking in addition to the traditional telephone booking service.
4. After your stay you may wish to leave feedback on the hotel either on their website or an online booking website.
