Sarasota, Florida Tourism Destination

Author: Troy Johnson

To visit Sarasota and experience popular Sarasota tourism attractions I recommend booking with one of our Sarasota seasonal rentals. When you rent direct by owner you’ll save over a hotel and it offers a unique perspective on your Sarasota tourism experience. I believe that Sarasota tourism attractions stand out among all Florida seasonal tourism. You might wonder what authority I have to make such recommendation. Well, not only am I a local since 2003, but I have been visiting Sarasota since the early 1980’s. I wrote this article to help renter members and visitors of snowbirdseeker .com know the best way to plan their Sarasota vacation. Of course since you are on this site I first need to recommend browsing our Sarasota vacation rentals and if they are not the right fit feel free to continue browsing all of our Florida seasonal rentals. These seasonal rentals by owner allow snowbirds to really participate in Florida seasonal tourism.

During season in Sarasota from December to March high temperatures average from 70-75 degrees F. Since the morning air can be cool I like to start the day with a tennis match or a nice round of golf. My favorite place to work on my ground strokes and drop shots is the nationally recognized Colony Beach and Tennis Resort. This seasonal vacation rental destination is located on Longboat Key, FL a city and Barrier Island just northwest of Sarasota. The resort offers world class dining, tennis, beach activities, and spa treatments. You might find leaving this Sarasota tourism destination difficult, but when you are ready to find your game I suggest heading inland for some great golf. Personally I really enjoyed the challenging University Park Country Club which is now a public course. The setting is magnificent, but I must warn you that palmetto trees are very unforgiving to slice.

Now that you are warmed up and the temperatures have risen I would recommend visiting Sarasota tourism attractions like our aquariums, botanical gardens, and local beaches. If you have heard enough and you are ready to plan your vacation just visit our seasonal rentals service. Moving on I would recommend touring the Marie Selby Botanical gardens, Mote Marine Aquarium, and the Sarasota Jungle Gardens. I have heard great things about all of those attractions, but I only linked to the Mote aquarium because it is my favorite place to visit and it’s perfect for the whole family. They are open every day of the year and they feature live shark and manatee exhibits. If there is still time I would visit the Ringling museum of art it provides unique insight on the iconic circus family.

By the early afternoon the sun will be shining, so grab your sunscreen because Siesta Key public beach and Lido beach are perfect for family recreation. Siesta Key beach has been named the number 1 beach in the continental United States for years in various travel magazines. Parking is an issue at this beach and some patience is required, but once settled it is well worth the parking hassle. The beach offers parasailing, jet skiing, volley ball, and unforgettable sunset viewing. The beach is very popular with locals and it is a Sarasota tourism destination. Although snowbirds and locals flock to this beach it is an immensely large beach so you will not feel crowded. This beach is a great way to get in touch with the Sarasota culture and lifestyle. I recommend visiting Siesta Key beach on Sunday because every Sunday there is a sunset drum circle that always draws a crowd. For those seasonal renters who seek a more private beach Lido Key is the right answer. This beach offers great gulf viewing and the northern most section of the beach is quite secluded.

After all of those activities I’m sure you have developed a healthy appetite. The best place to find fine restaurants and ritzy shoppes is St. Armands Circle. Considered by many to be Sarasota’s shopping gem it has over 100 fine shoppes and it is only steps from Lido Key Beach. There are many other Sarasota tourism activities that I did not mention, but these should fill a seven to ten day vacation. To keep in touch with any seasonal events talk to the locals because Sarasotans are warm and friendly. They will also be able to give advice on other great Florida seasonal tourism attractions.
