Gran Melia Mexico Reforma Made My Second Trip to Mexico City Unforgettable

Author: David Snyder

I recently made my second trip to Mexico City. Like all cities, Mexico City, was a more appreciable experience the second time. Whether this was do to my familiarity with my surroundings this time around, or simply the amazing treatment I received, one thing is certain, it was made better all around by my stay at

the Gran Melia Mexico Reforma.

Mexico City is truly one of the world’s most exciting travel destinations. It is the largest city in the world, as well as being the financial, cultural, and political epicenter of Mexico, and Latin America in general.

Paseo de la Reforma is the city’s main thoroughfare. It is part of the reason Mexico City has been referred to as the “Manhattan” of Latin America. This elegant street is lined with dozens of beautiful monuments, including the Independence Monument, which has become a trademark of Mexico City. Sharing space along Paseo de la Reforma are high-rise office buildings, embassies, hotels, colonial mansions, and shaded pedestrian promenades.

Among these buildings is one of the finest of all the Mexico City hotels, the Gran Melia Mexico Reforma. Built in an elegant, modern style, the hotel’s impressive 20-story atrium-style lobby features a monumental abstract sculpture, seating areas enclosed in brass-ribbed gazebos and a classic European flair. Gran Melia Mexico Reforma is a Sol Melia brand hotel, and this can be seen in its attention to detail.

The hotel, like all Sol Melia properties, has modern facilities and boasts first class service. From amazing dining options to a spa that is second to none in Mexico, Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma offers guests every comfort imaginable.

Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma, located on the recently renovated Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, near the financial, cultural and historic district and with convenient access to the Polanco and Santa Fe business areas, is the perfect place to stay for anyone visiting Mexico City for pleasure or business. My stay was for a bit of both, and it served me wonderfully in this dual function.

The hotel itself is just 12 miles from the international airport and 31 miles from the pyramids of Teotihuacán. Everything is at your fingertips when you stay at the Gran Melia Mexico Reforma, a fact which made my vacation as convenient as it was comfortable.

When it came time to dine I didn’t even need to leave the property. Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma offers several first class restaurants in Mexico City that offer guests the very best in Mexican and international cuisine. The Sol Melia concept of service flows into the restaurants as the amazing dishes are accented by exceptional treatment by the staff. May I suggest the paella at L’Albufera, it was sold to me as “the best paella in Mexico City”, and it did not disappoint. L’Albufera is one of the Mexico City restaurants you must visit when in this ancient city.

I took the hotel concierge’s advice and spent one of my afternoons at the Museo Franz Mayer. The building itself is a piece of history dating back to the 16th century. It has been beautifully restored, and now houses exquisite colonial-era art and rare items accumulated by Mayer himself and donated to the people of México. This museum features mostly functional pieces, such as furniture, watches, trunks, utensils and altarpieces. This amazing personal collection is on par with the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Fl, which is one of my favorite museums in the entire United States.

Back at the hotel I decided to indulge in some time at the spa. Gran Melia Mexico Reforma was the first spa in Mexico to receive official Mexican Spa Certification. This is just one way that you can tell you will be getting the pinnacle of spa service when you enter the spa at Gran Melia Mexico Reforma.

From www.GranMeliaMexicoReforma.com:

Located on the ninth floor, the Spa features six massage rooms, a relaxing living room, a sauna and steam bath, a full-service beauty parlor, as well as a state of the art gym overlooking the city. Featured treatments include Shiatsu massage, hot stone massage, aromatherapy, and facial treatments. The Spa also has an elegant heated pool with an artificial current, and three semicircular spa tubs. The pool area is enclosed by a glass solarium roof for an outdoor feel in the middle of the city.

The experience is as amazing as they make it sound. I have never experienced spa treatment sessions like the services at Gran Melia Mexico Reforma, and I have been to spas around the world. It is truly one of the most relaxing day spas in Mexico.

In a short description, my journey to Mexico City was an amazing experience I will never forget. I have the staff at Gran Melia Mexico Reforma largely to thank for that. Hopefully they can make my third trip to this impressive city just as amazing.

Excellent guide for San Antonio places to stay and activities

Author: PeeterKeefirimeister

San Antonio is a big town (2nd biggest in Texas) therefore it is important to select the right location when booking your San Antonio hotel. If you’d like to stay centrally within walking distance from the shopping, sights and sounds of the town then go for hotels in the down-town area or along the famous River Walk.

Town center

In case you are in town for just a short while then you definately should consider getting an accommodation in the downtown area of San Antonio. Okay, so you may need to pay a greater rate however you’ll save it on transportation and may increase your time exploring the city heart and visiting attractions.

The town center hotels really are perfect if you want all the attractions and sounds of San Antonio on your doorstep. Also, it is the city’s key business area, which means should you be in town on business you’ll probably need a hotel here.

The downtown area would be the travellers hub of the city as it is home to the famous historical area. The famous Alamo can be found at Alamo Plaza inside center of down-town San Antonio. Other top sites to see here include: the Tower of the Americas, The Guenther House, Museo Alameda, the Main Plaza and El Mercado – the city’s historic markets.

In terms of night-life, it’s hard to beat the downtown area. That area of the city is known for a buzzing theatre scene so take the time to look a show at some of its intimate theatres. Nightlife is as well vivid in this area having lots of taverns and pubs to pick from, as well as dance clubs and live music venues.

The town center San Antonio is also the smartest choice to base yourself in case you are taking in some shopping. The Rivercentre Shopping mall is situated there and features over 100 stores which include Macy’s. Should you choose a downtown San Antonio accommodation you may drop your bags back at the hotel room and carry on the shopping spree!

Another good thing about hotels in the downtown area is that if you stay here you will not need any transport as you can easily get around by walking.

By the Riverwalk

The Riverwalk is amongst the major sights in the town. It is essentially an open public park that runs the length of the beautiful San Antonio River and it’s packed with dining places, places to stay and contains many amusement attractions within a few blocks like Splashtown Waterpark, the Tower of the Americas, Ripley’s Haunted Adventure and Ripley’s Tomb Rider, the Natural Bridge Caverns and the IMAX Theatre Rivercentre Mall.

Museums and galleries in and closeby the Riverwalk include The Buckhorn Saloon & Museum, the Eclectic Art Gallery and the Briscoe Western Art Museum.

The Riverwalk’s nightlife is first class having a lot of jazz bars, rock and roll bars, chill out saloons and live music spots in the area. The Riverwalk is additionally the primary section of the city which often has festivals, parades and concert events.

This area is one of the nicest places to stay whilst in the town. There are many San Antonio accommodations to pick from in this area. Some of them are located near the river itself while other of them are just a few blocks away.

Near the Convention Center

The Harry Barbosa Gonzales Convention Center is located in the heart of the historical town centre and is the primary conference, sports, amusement and exhibition facility in the town. What’s more, it features the Lila Cockrell Theatre and the Alamodome and it’s home to over four hundred fivty events each year!

There are lots of hotels in just steps from the conference center.

Near to the Airport terminal

The Airport terminal is situated 12km north of town center. Although it is very well connected to the city center by public transport, you could also use it as your camp for exploring town and its surrounds. There are plenty of San Antonio hotels located here that are perfect if you are flying with an early morning flight and many provide shuttle bus service.

You will find a wide variety of hotels to book and they range between one star to five star thus there’s something to fit all taste and budget no matter if you’re looking for low cost hotels in San Antonio or luxury hotels.

It’s also worth pointing out that in case you would desire to stretch your budget then you should avoid conference periods in the town. Hotel prices can be little bit higher if there is a conference in town and they usually take place during the spring, winter and autumn time. Within the summer seasonn, the high temperatures and humidity can make it unpleasant for exploring the city. Also, because visitors tend to avoid the town over the hot summer, hotel rooms prices tend to be a lttle bit lower.

Hope you will find the ideal San Antonio region for your needs where to stay.
