There is no where else in the world that is quite like Venice. For visitors that want to discover the cultural side of Venice, you won’t be disappointed with the huge number of art galleries in the city. Although the city is famous for being the home of Reniassance art, you can also find some of the best modern art displayed in the city. With most art galleries close to the central Venice hotels, you won’t have to trek around the city to find what art the city has to offer.

The Ravagnan Art Gallery is the place to come if you want to find out more about the work of newer artists. This is one of the most influential galleries in Italy, as it is known to display the work of relatively unknown artists, and then making their art known throughout the country, and even the world. Opened in 1967, it has been one of the most influential galleries in the world. Here you can see the sculptures, paintings and installations of modern artists including Primo Formenti, Aron Demetz and Andrea Vizzini.

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, is the best gallery for modern art in all of Italy. This art gallery mostly displays art from the 20th century. This gallery is relatively small, especially compared to the huge galleries that can be found elsewhere in the city. Found right on the canal, you can find some of the great masters of the 20th century displayed here including Motherwell, Kandinsky, Picasso, and Pollock. You can find this art gallery on the Calle San Cristoforo, and close to plenty of Venice hotels.

You can’t go to Venice without visiting the Accademia Gallery. This Renaissance gallery is found on the Campo della Carità, here you can see paintings dating back from the 14th century, in the most sumptuous of surroundings. Enjoy art by Bellini, Titian and Longhi among many others. Even if you’re not a fan of Renaissance art, you will be bowled over by the ornate ceilings and marble columns. This is universally acknowledged as the most impressive art gallery in Venice, and a trip here will be a trip you’ll remember for years to come.

There are so many spectacular sculptures, paintings and architectural wonders all around the city, that are well worth a visit. Although there are many other galleries apart from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Accademia Gallery and Ravagnan Art Gallery , these are definitely among the best in the city, so are well worth a visit whilst in Venice.
